https://www.youtube.com/user/Fenixember here is a link to some of our first FL boss kills. They are not all pretty but you can see my UI. It's quite similar now. I have some additional power auras set up to track my Judgements of the pure and whatnot.
Your weekly raid availability (We raid Fri/Sat/Sun 4-8pm PST):
I am not available Mondays or Tuesdays but all other days am fairly flexible.
What add-ons do you rely on most?
Addons (I'm a bit of an addict)
Shadowed Unit frames, to arrange the visual info in the way I can best absorb what is going on.
Bartender, Same as above
healbot or Vuhdu (whichever is currently the most functional) Healing frames
Skada, as a meter
DBM and DXE , raid warnings
sexymap, um, it's sexy
Prat, to edit the text in my chat frame
Powerauras, mainly to help me keep up my judgement of the pure buff
Mik's scrolling battle text, look at all the big green numbers!
What resources do you use to keep up to date on how to play your class?
Generally I follow threads on Plusheal, EJ, WoW Forums, and any other good sites I find. I tend to stalk Hpallies in the highest raiding guilds I can find. I watch the way they gear up and spec. I view spreadsheets and do my best to understand the tricksy math.
What previous raid experience do you have?
I started playing during late Burning Crusade. I was quite the noob and had a fabulous time leveling and stumbling through non-current raids as a ret pally. This continued well into wrath when I finally figured out that I was doing it wrong. What, 1500 dps isn't good?
I started doing research (I'm still a bit researched obsessed) and went Holy. I found I was very good at it. I ran a half guild half pug ICC 25 as well as raiding in the guilds 10 man. I barely managed to squeak out my LK kill before it became meaningless. This occurred while I was a member of Unforgiven and then later Nothinprsnl. Occasionally I subbed Nothin's group one for heroic ICC.
I'm a loyal raider and while Nothin's group one asked me to join them I stayed in the second group up until FL. We cleared BOT, BWD, and TOFW while it was relevant... barely. It was frustrating as to be honest, while the people were great, the average skill level in the group was rather low.
When Firelands hit I decided it was time to move groups and joined group 1. We cleared 7/7 pre-nerf and had 6/7 H on farm. We did not attempt heroic Rag. Most recently we have cleared DS 8/8 and were getting ready to start heroics when the raid died.
What guilds have you been a member of and why are you leaving?
Unforgiven and most recently Nothinprsnl
I am currently a senior officer in Nothinprsnl and a healer in group. It was a good, fairly serious group.
The last couple of months have been tough. The group has had personnel problems, attendance problems, and people with computer issues. Progression has been very slow. Apparently some people have burnt out and the GM and RL has decided to take at least a few months off. Over half of the raid group feels the same. The guild will be going more of a casual direction in the future. I will be leaving alts there.
Honestly I was already starting to feel like it was time for me to move on. I would like a more serious group. I would love to find a server with a higher average skill level (I hope this exists). I am always punctual, never miss raid without plenty of notice, and while I like having a good time, I show up ready to get the job done.
Why do you want to join Shade of Arrows (Be thorough with your answer)?
Well, we had a nice talk and seem to be on the same page as far as goals for this tier. It also seems like a good match personality wise.
I want to progress through heroic DS and future tiers while they are relevant and before they get nerfed.
I take other people's time seriously and expect the same consideration. This means that I do my utmost to always be on time and ready. I make sure my computer and internet connection are maintained and functioning properly. I don't randomly and repeatedly AFK during raids (pet peeve) and I do my best to be sure I am playing to my max potential. I research fights, look over logs, and am prepared to give and receive constructive input.
I also enjoy being silly and having fun. Getting old achievements, titles, and mounts. I like the social aspect of the game and am always willing to help out wether it be through my professions, theorycrafting, or doing randoms to help people gear.
How did you find us (Friend,Forum,Trade Chat,Officer, etc.)(specify)?
You found me on the recruitment forum!
Tell us about yourself, to help us determine if you would be a good fit here (The more you put here, the better it looks):
Errr, well right now I am sitting in my first anatomy and physiology class. I recently returned to school to change careers. I was working in the construction industry as an architectural designer and LEED AP, designing zero energy homes. Then the construction industry here is California tanked. I decided to go back to school and try and do something I will actually enjoy, so I am trying to get into a radiologic technologist program and intend to later on move into diagnostic sonography.
My other (than WoW) obsession is horses. I've been riding for over 20 years. Mainly eventing and dressage. I currently have 2 ponies, a show jumper and a dressage horse (she lacks the courage and coordination to jump). I'm a big weenie now so mainly stick to dressage. I just don't bounce the way I used to!
