    Headphones Empty Headphones

Post by Kualija Fri Jun 13, 2014 11:28 am

I broke my headphones last night, and so need a replacement. The ones I had sounded great, but they were actually pretty heavy and not exactly comfortable. Does anyone have any suggestions for new headphones?

I need something very light with a built-in adjustable mic. If it's possible to do that and be wireless, that would be awesome.

    Thanks!

From what I've read, the headphones weigh 2 pounds. Is that right? That's a pretty big load on my wee girlish head.

Hmm to be honest i dont really realize them there but the part that i like about it is there metal on the headband part so its super hard to break the actual headphones which is why its passed more than a year for me lol but i could see it being 2 lbs

I'll have to try weighing my current headphones for a comparison. I want to try going as lightweight as I can get away with while still being able to hear adequately and be understood over vent/mumble. Price is not a real issue, but comfort is a very high priority. I've been starting to get some wracking headaches after wearing my headset even less than an hour, so I'm keen on getting something light.

I think I might try Logitech Wireless Gaming Headset G930

The price is good, and the shipping weight is under 2 pounds. With the various additional equipment that comes with it, the headset itself should be in the area of 1 pound (I hope). I also like the ability to program the G-keys to allow chat while AFK. Considering I get free shipping and can return it for 0-cost within 30 days with my Amazon Prime membership, it certainly sounds worth trying.

I am still open to other suggestions, and very much appreciate the help.   Smile

To be honest, if you really want lightweight you could just go with some earphones and get one of those clip-on mic's that you can put on your shirt. I can't stand the ipod headphones, but I have some sony ones that were like 5 bucks from walmart that I love. Only real problem to consider would be making sure the cord is long enough.

Rereading your post, it doesn't have the features you want so that's a major downside.

Thanks Savedya, Smile but yeah, I can't use those earphone things for more than about 15 minutes at a stretch. I have a neurological condition that makes my ears extremely sensitive to any pressure in the ear canals. Even headphones that just cover the ears are very uncomfortable. That's why I usually join Mumble with no headphones on and have sound through the speakers until the raid actually starts.

Really, with all the pain I have playing the game, I should probably just quit. Sucks finding a new hobby though.

I'll give the Logitech headphones a try since I can do so at 0 risk. I can still keep an eye out for something else if it doesn't work out.

The Logitech ones you're looking at are really nice. I've had the wired version for a few months now and I have yet to have any issues with them.

I have the Logitech G930 headset and I love it. It's pretty comfy on my head and the sound quality is excellent.

    www.Headphones.com.au

I recommend anything by Beyerdynamic but pretty much anything he offers is swagcertified.

I also recommend buying headphones not a headset and buying the following microphone to use with it.

Zalman ZM-1 Clip on Mic, obtainable via Amazon.

Bose headphones don't put much pressure on your ears, but they don't have a mic (or if they do I've never seen one).

Well, they do have this aviation headset, but that really seems overkill. And I do need a mic for raiding.

The Logitech headset just arrived, and WOW! These things are really very comfortable and fit far better than my previous set. I can't believe how much noise they block out as well. That could even be a problem; they block too much noise, and I normally listen to in-game sounds through the speakers. Be nice for sleeping though, lol!

Next step is to try them in-game. Now if I can just read the instructions with these new contact lenses...

After giving the new headset a decent trial in raid last night, I am still really very happy with them. Although I did get significant circumaural pain, it was still a whole lot better than what I was used to. Some repositioning or additional padding may help there.

The only thing I'm disappointed in is that the volume wheel doesn't have any effect at all on the volume. That's probably due more to my not understanding how to set it up as opposed to a functional issue. All in all, I am super happy with my choice. And I still have 3 weeks in which to change my mind for a full refund.

The kicker is that I had spent DAYS researching gaming headsets for my previous purchase, had spent a LOT more on them, and was never at all happy with the way they felt. This Logitech headset I got relatively cheap, bought on impulse, and are a dream for comfort.
