Kelzen - Blood Death Knight Empty Kelzen - Blood Death Knight

Post by Kelzen Sun Aug 17, 2014 11:05 pm

    Your age: 18

    BattleTag: RedVengeance#1407

    Armory Link of Main: http://us.battle.net/wow/en/character/spirestone/Kelzen/simple

Armory Links of Notable Alts: N/A (Don't plan on raiding with alts until WoD)

    World of Logs/WMO Parses: http://www.warcraftlogs.com/guilds/8812

    Screenshot of your UI: https://i.imgur.com/EhjGtwW.jpg

List the days you are raid available (Sun-Thurs 8-12pm EST):  All

What add-ons do you rely on most? Raven, NugComboBar, DBM

What resources do you use to keep up to date on how to play your class? MMO-Champion / WoWHead for theory crafts, updates, etc..

What previous raid experience do you have? Full WotLK (on my old account) Little Cataclysm,
Late MoP. 13/13H ToT, 14/14H SoO

What guilds have you been a member of and why are you leaving? , , - Leaving due to attendance issues, making raiding impossible. I can't raid without a raid team.

Why do you want to join Shade of Arrows (Be thorough with your answer)? I need to find a place to call home, I want to find a community I can be competitive in, and be relaxed in. Competition is key for me, I love competing with others in the raid, as well as others I theorycraft with, but the people are the deal maker/breaker for me. I'm not a push over, so don't get the idea I'm some sort of sissy, I just want to feel comfortable with my fellow raiders, that way we can struggle and succeed together. Simply to put it. I want to become friends with my fellow raiders.

    How did you find us (Friend,Forum,Trade Chat,Officer, etc.)(specify)? WoWProgress.com

Are you competitive by nature? If so, who do you compete against (Yourself or others? Specifiy other)? I compete against myself, other raiders and those I theorycraft against on MMO-Champion.com

Tell us about yourself to help us determine if you would be a good fit here (The more you put here, the better it looks):
The real reason why I want to join is because I want a home for the rest of SoO and WoD. I had a few server firsts for WotLK back then and after a break in Cataclysm everything fell apart until coming back in MoP. I joined Centurion for friends and many across our Cross-Realms can vouch at my tanking abilities. I'm a loyal, determined and fun player. I am usually quiet until I open up to the people around me, I make the environment fun and push my fellow raiders to the best they can be. I constantly look out for others and give them tips on what they did wrong or how they could improve via PMs. I make GChat fun with my silly antics, keep the morale high and everyone with a smile at my expense, but I also know when is appropriate to be serious. I have a reputation for being the asshole during raid for pointing out mistakes and calling out others on them to correct them, not in an insulting or offensive way, but friendly and determined. I find that my balance of silly and serious would make me a great addition to your guild. Expecting you to have two tanks already, I am willing to be a back-up tank, a bench tank etc. All I ask, is for an opportunity.

    Bonus question >>Do you attend couple's cross-stitching?<<
    lol? no.

Why are you mastery build, rather than Riposte build?

Are you comfortable playing your offspec, or do you prefer to only tank?

    Why do I stack mastery?
If we only look at avoidable physical damage then Blood Shield and avoidance are actually very similar. In essence, there is no difference between having a 200k Blood Shield and a single dodge on a boss that swings for 200k damage. Both Blood Shield and avoidance let you negate a full boss swing and both stats are roughly equal in reducing your average damage taken.
So why did I rate mastery above avoidance in my stat weights? Because Blood Shield let's you "avoid" swings on demand since you can trigger it at will while avoidance is still bound to the RNG. Don't get me wrong, avoidance is great and it plays well with our active mitigation* - but reliability wins.
Mastery also has the benefit of making you stronger on encounters with big magic burst because the extra magic damage taken will increase the size of our Blood Shields whereas avoidance does not get better. On the flipside, avoidance has the benefit of letting us avoid some nasty, stacking debuffs on a few boss encounters which can also be valuable. But in general, Mastery will remain the better stat to gear for.

*Every avoided and fully absorbed hit let's you delay your next Death Strike by another 1.5 secs (or whatever the bosses swing timer happens to be in this case) which is essentially the same as giving you +1.5 secs free Rune regeneration time. (I really love the interplay of avoidance, Mastery and our Runes.)

I'm also fine with playing my OS, currently 562 gear, so it's lacking (lol)

Maybe the better question here: why aren't you Riposte build? In your gear, and especially at this point in content, both are going to allow you to survive just fine, but one allows you to pump out a lot more damage. While it isn't necessarily the job of the tank role to be pumping out the most damage, there is no reason to be suboptimal and not pump out said damage.

    Some gear questions:

Why don't you use 4-piece currently?

    Why aren't you expertise capped?

How comfortable are you with it. Maybe what I'm trying to ask is: to how high of a level do you see yourself able to play frost?

I'd love to see some heroic siegecrafter logs from you kel. Even if they are all just wipes it'd be a lot more interesting to me than any of the other logs you have, since you probably sleep through the first 8 bosses, and thok is a healer fight much more than a tank fight.

I just switched to Riposte after receiving the gear I needed, I don't have 4 piece because I haven't been awarded the loot for it. As much as I'd like to have it, Loot Council's don't think a tank is as important than DPS.

I'm quite comfortable with playing Frost, but I won't deny, I'm not as experienced as Frost raider.

Sorry for the late response, but since we are going on break, we don't have a reasonably effective way to trial you. We are also not in desperate need of a tank at this time, so we are going to pass. Good luck in the future!
